The sun as a "radiant" life elixir
Constant sun bathing increases the performance of hobby and competitive athletes. This has been proven by a survey conducted by the Olympic Support Point Rhein-Ruhr in Essen Germany. The survey was conducted on german athletes, who participated in the Olympic Games in Sydney. The effect of constant exposure in solariums with similiar rays of light as natural sun, the UV-A and UV-B rays was researched. The improvement of human endurance was demonstrably proven. Also the susceptibility of infection was reduced and the immune system was optimized. The latter was confirmed by blood tests among other things.
Fuel for the muscles
It could be, that the optimisation of the energy suplpy within the muscles play a role. The glycogen resevoir in the muscles has demonstrably been proven to rise during sun bathing. Glycogen is a natural human body energy reservoir that makes extensive muscle straining possible. A study conducted on students of the american College of Illinois showed that those that regularly were exposed to light, were able to raise their performance by 20%. The study group without sun bathing, only managed an increase of 1%. Furthermore UV-rays stabilise the heart and circulation and reduce the resting- and strained puls. Also sunlight soes not only improve ones physical endurance but also it raises ones resistance to common colds.
Turbo for the blood sugar
Sunlight has an affect similar to insulin, because it can reduce the level of blood sugar like insulin does. The excessive sugar in the blood ends up as energy reserves int o the glycogen reservoire of the muscles. Sun bathing for diabetics has a distinctly better affect reducing blood sugar than with healthy people.
Healing of the skin
Especially good therapy results with UV light can be reached with psoriasis, neurodermatitis and acne. Persons suffering from these illnesses, often notice an improvement of the skin in summer and especially when on holiday near the sea or in the mountains. Sunlight has an anti-inflammatory affect with neurodermititis and also reduces itching. Both the short wave radiation UV-B as well as the long wave radiation UV-A light can be used as treatment. Most patients with chronical skin illnesses have in the couse of time found out how much sunlight is good for them. It is however very important to avoid sunburn in all cases, otherwise the positive affect can be changed to the contrary. The sun as blood pressure reducer

Further studies showed that just one sun bath can slightly reduce high blood pressure. The affect on people with high blood pressure is particularly distinctive. During an experiment it was possible to prove that an even more than double the amount of blood pressure reduction could be reached compared to a test group with normal blood pressure.
